About Us

Welcome from the Head of School

Welcome to the Harborlight Montessori School community and thank you for your interest in our very special school.

Founded thirty-nine years ago by Susan Egan, Harborlight has grown into a preeminent Montessori school offering a nurturing and challenging program for children from four months to grade eight. The core of the Harborlight experience is the natural interaction of the child, the teacher and the rich classroom environment.

Harborlight encourages the spirit and joy of learning. The entire campus is alive with the sights and sounds of children and adults engaged in purposeful discovery. The community’s supportive environment celebrates diversity and fosters respect for all individuals. The academic and social challenges are individual and place no artificial boundaries on the level of learning. We all have an innate desire to learn. The Harborlight environment allows and encourages reaching beyond the comfortable known.

To quote Susan Egan, “Examine the difference of a collaborative learning environment where students and adults not only honor, but protect individualism… Students at Harborlight are challenged by high quality academics which lead them to rewards of success in higher education and life.”

Harborlight began its journey in a church with a very tall steeple. The steeple and its light guided sailors into the port of Beverly. Let Harborlight guide your child to his/her, as yet unknown, potential.

I urge you to visit Harborlight Montessori School, talk to a teacher, observe a class, and experience the joy of learning first hand.
